Get It’s Women on the Move feature is not just about us introducing Bloem’s most successful businesswomen to you, it’s about connecting as a female community and celebrating our fearlessness. Vodacom feels strongly about empowering women to make their business aspirations come to life. The connection options offered to women to help them achieve those dreams are endless. Get It is proud to be associated with a brand which believes in local female power!

Meet Thato Mokhothu.

This exceptional businesswoman knows how to hustle. As the owner of a construction company and several tyre shops in the Free State and Northern Cape, and loyal Absa client, Thato Mokhothu is challenging the status quo as a woman in a man’s world.

Thato radiates a quiet confidence, style and inner strength. She’s not afraid to pull up her sleeves to tackle the nitty grittys of each project herself, in order to achieve high levels of success. Thato grew up in Bloemfontein and  matriculated at Brebner High School. “The best decision I have ever made, was to resign from a desk job to go full time into entrepreneurship.” She is a firm believer of learning through her mistakes. A hard lessen she had to learn, was to do proper market research and always have a detailed business plan in place before embarking on a new business venture. “My worst decision was taking my pension money to open a restaurant without doing the proper research,” she tells.

She is currently the only woman in the Free State who is involved in the tyre industry. “I am very proud to be doing what I am doing. I use it to promote a female ownership, which is rare in our industry.”

Thato is inspired by like-minded businesswomen who she is surrounded by. “One of my business role models are Dr Thandi Ndlovu, the owner of Motheo Construction.”

Thato loves spending time with her children in her down time.

As taught by Joel Osteen, Thato believes that you’ll see God opening new doors for you if you keep your faith, keep
the right attitude and be grateful. “You need to associate with people that inspire you – people who challenge you
to rise higher. Don’t waste your valuable time with people who are not adding to your growth. Your destiny is too
important.”
